What an absurd book. It's a perfect example of why I dislike crime fiction by romance writers, usually women. Give me a David Baldacci or Vince Flynn novel any day over this. I mean, the man's brother has just been murdered and Ellie swoons over his muscular frame. She grows warm and gets little twinges in her belly when he's searching for clues to the killer and accidentally touches her hand. Good grief! What might have been a decent plot is ruined by all the swooning and sighing in all the wrong places. This is a romance book trying to be a crime/detective novel. Sorry I wasted my money and read less than half. If you enjoy long, drawn out chapters filled with character background, details, and feelings, feelings, feelings, then this book is for you. If you're looking for a fast-paced thriller, you should pass. I will admit, I was interested in the characters and developing story, but the meandering writing just took too long to get anywhere. I kept skimming pages looking for something to actually happen. (aside from the initial problem)I hate to give a scathing review, but all the high ratings had me excited that I'd found a new author. LOTS of romance building but not enough movement to keep me reading.
